Under the heading “Morality as a Response to God”  5 bullet points are listed, describing 5 “helps” God has given us to help us make good moral decisions.

a.)    Summarize in writing each of the 5 helps (Intelligence & freedom, Holy Spirit, etc.)

b.)    Then describe a made-up example of a moral decision (a right or wrong choice) that someone must make, and show how 3 or 4 of these “helps” could assist her in making a good decision in that case.

2.  Write:  Explain the reasons why you consider each of them to be moral or immoral and give one or more examples of their moral, or immoral, actions.

 For each of the 2 characters, also explain any Gifts or Fruits of the Holy Spirit (see page 13) that seem especially evident or missing in their lives.

1. Find a substantial article in the newspaper (approx. half- page +) or magazine (approx 1+ pages) about a moral issue. The article could be about a personal/individual or social issue, decision or situation.

2. Analyze this moral issue, applying all elements of the STOP method – see website for form, including “others” and “prayer” (for prayer you could write about the general type of prayer you would recommend, or  compose an appropriate original prayer)

3. Final product: approx. 2 page paper, typed, due Tuesday March 11. Grade will equal one-half test grade.

Note. Grading criteria will include:

a. Depth or complexity of article on the moral issue

b. Thoroughness and quality of written analysis using all STOP categories (available on web page)

c. Thoroughness and quality of student’s expression of her judgment regarding the morality of the action or decision, and rationale for student’s judgment.
