According to Dr. Martin Luther King we are “all called to greatness.   Not  fame but greatness, because greatness lies in service.”

http://classes.yale.edu/Fractals/index.html   If you enter this site, you will be very surprised at the beauty of fractal images. They are all generated by manipulating a specific complex number sequence and assigning colors to the resulting particular number values.

Obviously Euclid was not the first mathematician. There have been many regarded as greater. His Elements, however, has to be regarded as one of the most significant works (of any field, art or science) ever created by mankind. No book, other than the bible, has been published more times. For over 2000 years, the Elements was a textbook used by all math students.

An Escheresque fractal by Peter Raedschelders.

"I find the ideas in the fractals, both as a body of knowledge and as a metaphor, an incredibly important way of looking at the world." Vice President Al Gore, New York Times, Wednesday, June 21, 2000, discussing some of the "big think" questions that intrigue him.

If you look closely at the Escheresque above,  you may see butterflys!!!!

Here are some examples of fractal art from a 1999 contest. More information can be found at http://www.fractalus.com/contest99/results.htm.

All these images are generated by programs with specific parameters for the formulas to be iterated, the assignment of colors, and so on. To be sure, a subtle hand is required to reliably produce interesting images. Click on each separately if you would like a closer look at these  marvels!

There is no question that Isaac Newton created calculus. Evidence from a 1664 letter confirms this. This sketch is by Iutta Waloshek.

You do NOT want to miss this site! Just click the site below for a breathtaking trip through the universe. Remember this: Astronomy questions are what CAUSED the invention of Calculus over 300 years ago!!!!!!!

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html  an awesome astronomy picture of the day to keep us balanced: amazing daily shots of our mind-boggling universe….take a look at what we are really just a  speck of….does all your daily  stress really amount to anything earth-shattering?

Wolfram Research, Inc. - Home page for the integrated technical computing software company founded and led by Stephen Wolfram.
This is a cool site.

This site above contains one of the most fascinating mathematical games ever produced in the last thirty years…You may want to check out how modern day theoretical mathematicians like to spend their free time. In fact, you will understand finally how a mathematicians’ mind really never “turns off”…we are THINKING all the time!!!!!!! Have fun! (while you are thinking!)

This is the astronomy picture for the day.
