- Practice and Repetition - some things just must be
memorized.
- Use flashcards for learning terms and definitions.
ie: On front of card - term
On back of card- definition
- Association - By relating
something you need to learn with something you already know. This
technique may be useful for words with close meaning/spelling
ie: ARTERIES carry blood AWAY from the heart
- Chunking - Put many bits of info into chunks. Useful for
memorizing lists.
- Use of Meaningful Material - Use the glossary of
words, to make complicated terms more easily understood.
- Acronyms- A word formed from the first letter of words in
a grouping. This helps when you have to remember words. It is
helpful for rote memory, but not for comprehension.

HOMES - Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior

WURKcreW - gifts of the Holy Spirit- wisdom, understanding, reverence,
knowledge, courage, right judgement, wonder and awe
- Visulaize/ Create Mental Images- This technique can
be used to remember something by visualizing where the words were on
a page. Draw pictures to aid your memory.
ie:
concept maps, summary charts and tables, labelled diagrams.
- Sentences / Acrostics - using the first letter of each
term to create a sentence or name aids in memorizing. This technique
is useful when the terms you are remembering must be remembered in
sequence.

Kingdom, phylum, class, order, genus species
